Santa Maria della Salute

The view to Santa Maria della Salute over the Grand Canal.

Santa Maria della Salute is a Roman Catholic Church located in the Italian city of Venice. Construction began in 1631 and was designed in baroque style by Balldassare Longhena. Its crown like appearance is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Commonly known as "The Salute" it features the influence of Palladian classicism and the domes of Venice.

Aaaahhhh ... so much art and history. I love the old cathedrals and churches!

Have a blessed weekend :)

Kerri,
I love the old cathedrals and churches too. When the girls travel, they often attend masses in these historic churches. The Santa Maria della Salute is beautiful. I'm Catholic too, and my favorite churches are the older ones with artistic drawings and statues. I would love to visit the Santa Maria. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Kerri, I just stopped painting cause it's too hot here. Almost done but not quite yet, darn. Love this church, don't know if I told you that one of my daughters went to Italy about a month ago, with a tour and they went to many churches, she is in love with Italy and is planning another trip in March, wonder if she went to this one. Blessings, Lu

Hi Kerri,
I love the trips you take us on with the wonderful pics to inspire. I love these old churches and catherdrals too and we try and attend mass whenever we travel around. We visited a beautiful church in Santa Fe on vacation a few years ago and about to go back in 2 weeks.
Thank you for stopping by and your kind comment. I was actually in Florida this past weekend on a little getaway with my hubs for his work in Miami. Short trip but enjoyable. Way to humid though!! LOL
Have a wonderful and creative week.
Hugs, Celestina Marie
