The Place des Vosges originally known as the "Place Royale" is the oldest planned square in Paris and is located in the Marais historic district (as mentioned in my previous post.) Cardinal de Richelieu; Roman Catholic cardinal and French statesmen, was resident here until his death in 1642.

KERRI DEAREST!!! Oh, the fun in Paris is still going strong here!!! HEY, I so encourage you to take some French classes! I taught myself at the age of 34 then went on for 17 years to get all my degrees and licenses to teach IN FRENCH. I taught fourth grade and ALL SUBJECTS in French. You can do it but it requires a lot of listening and imitation. GO FOR IT!!!! Anita

Hope you are doing fine in your own royal square. Just did admire your excellent Shih Tzu painting on eBay, the ones you sold. That is incredible, also your roses are so lovely done.
Daydreaming about those old French buildings with their history and culture is a great thing to do. I've been there a few times but since we live on this side of the ocean, it will be harder to realize.

Yes, I love old fashioned lamp posts too. They are very historic to me. What a lovely place for the Cardinal to live the remainder of his life in.
